Siars learning to be disciples, teachers, leaders

Bible lessons and training will help the young church grow and spread the Gospel.

The missionary team ministering to the Siar people is teaching and discipling believers with the intent of establishing a mature, strong church.

“We are trusting [God] to continue to do what is best for the maturity and health of the believers here,” wrote missionary Chris Lujan.

The team has spent the last four months teaching the book of Romans to the Siars. God used the 100 hours of teaching from Romans to strengthen and grow the Siar church.

As they reached the end of the teaching, the missionaries encouraged a time of sharing concerning what the Lord was doing in their lives. There was a fellowship feast afterward.

The missionaries continue to translate the Scriptures into the Siar language. Lane Sanford is working on the book of Ephesians. Jonathan Jackson is finishing up some revisions on the book of Romans—fine tuning the translation the others have done.

Chris Lujan is working on preparing Firm Foundation Bible lessons for the book of Ephesianss.  “I am currently in chapter two,” he wrote, “and just yesterday I was once again overwhelmed with God and His grace for those who were once spiritually dead, followed the ways of Satan, and children of wrath.  God unfolded and unleashed His magnificent grace and love on unworthy objects, you and me.”

The team is discipling the believers hoping to create a heart for evangelism and discipleship in the church.

“I will be starting to work with three men in preparing them for that very thing,” wrote Chris. “As I think about this work I am taken by the responsibility but yet excited to see God work in these guys lives. Please be praying for them (Jon and Yowan, Tande and Kelestin, and Nelson and Paska.) I put their wives names as well because this is not just a sacrifice and work for the men.”

The men are also training five men and nine women to teach Firm Foundation Bible lessons. Their desire is to equip the Siar believers in this important and necessary work of the church, the work of laying out the foundational biblical truths of salvation to the unsaved.

Pray that Chris, Lane and Jonathan and their wives will continue to be dedicated and determined as they minister among the Siars.
