WEEKLY PRAYER UPDATES

May 9th

Papua New Guinea: Dinangat tribe: Several Dinangats have testified they are placing their faith in Christ at the conclusion of evangelistic Bible lessons. Continue to pray for Ralf and Elisabeth Schlegels and their co-workers as they serve among the Dinangat people. Find out more -- read the story >>

Guinea: Cees and Corinne Snetselaar, missionaries in Guinea, would appreciate our prayers for the family that are preparing to be dormitory parents at the mission school for the new academic year.
Pray for Cees and Corinne as they are organising a member care conference and also preparing to go on a short furlough.
Pray especially for their daughter, Ruth, as she will soon graduate from the mission school, say goodbye to her life in Africa and adjust to life in the Netherlands.

Mozambique: Martin and Corinne de Jongh are facing winter in Mozambique which isn't a great deal different to the summer; it is still around 30 degrees Celsius. They feel their bodies are now adjusting well to the heat.
Recently the first of their team officially reached the necessary level of fluency in language and culture to be able to start teaching the Bible among the Lolo people. For their whole team this is a tremendous encouragement! Please pray that change will happen in the hearts of the Lolo people. It is truly wonderful that, for the first time, these people can be reached with the Gospel: but the task is not an easy one.
Also continue to pray for Martin and Corinne as they continue in language and culture study.

Papua New Guinea: Kelly and Beulah Sehorn and family, support missionaries in Papua New Guinea are preparing to leave for the USA in early June to visit family and churches. They plan to return to PNG in August.
They would appreciate your prayers for Holly, their daughter, as she recently broke her arm. Pray for them especially as they say goodbye to family and friends in the coming weeks, and for a good transition for their children as they head back to the field. Please pray that they will be able to find time to rest in the midst of all the busyness of the next couple of months.

Cambodia: Jonathan and Kristen Smedley and theirr young family have
arrived safely in Thailand after a six month furlough in the USA. Kristen's parents came down from northern Thailand and met them at the airport, which was a huge blessing for them as they had a mountain of luggage and three very tired children. They are going to spend a bit of time in Bangkok adjusting to the time change and "hanging out" with grandma and grandpa, and then next week make the trip across the border into Cambodia. Please pray that they would all quickly adjust to the time change and to the heat.
Jon and Kristen are looking forward to getting back to Cambodia and moving up to the Northeast region. Please continue to pray for them as a family and as they work out the necessary details.

PNG - Gende: Paul and Susan Boothby are thankful for the continued care they receive in many ways and acknowledge that the Lord is good and sufficient for each day.
Some good news is that NTM has bought a helicopter that is already in PNG which may be operative by June.
Paul is up and down health wise and still in a lot of pain especially in the middle of the night. They have been told it will just take time for him to fully recuperate, so he rests for a few days when he feels he needs to.
There is still a lot of work to do on the house but nothing pressing or that they really depend on and for the most part they are comfortable.
There have been about ten believers meeting on Sundays recently. Some still keep away or are in town. It is sad to see some of the children who were so keen but now do not
bother coming.
Pray for Paul and Susan as they look at getting the literacy
programme set up again and materials reprinted. They pray that the Lord may continue to find them faithful each day and be pleased to do mighty works in the lives of the believers and others too.
Laura their daughter is doing well and finishes school at the end of May and they look forward to joining her at the beginning of June.
Please continue to pray for them as a family serving the Lord among the Gendi people of Papua New Guinea.

United States: David and Ann Calderwood, retired missionaries living at the NTM Homes in the USA, are still very active in their ministry. They have a number of meetings/conferences to attend in the next few months; please pray for their travels and ministry. Please pray for Ann as for the last few years she has been limited in her walking but has now been given the opportunity to try a new device that might be a practical answer to restoring Ann's lost mobility.

Guinea: Susan Howarth, missionary teacher at the school in Guinea, is praising the Lord for helping her to find suitable accommodation for when she goes on home assignment this month. Pray for the details to be worked out to enable her to live comfortably.
Also pray for Susan as she travels and adjusts to life in the UK, that it will be a time of encouragement and refreshment.
Please continue to pray for the school children as the school year draws to an end and they are tired from the heat.

. -- that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ..
