November 20th

Papua New Guinea: Mibu tribe: Some Mibus have a clear understanding of the importance of studying the Old Testament, and others are learning. Pray that God works in hearts to draw many Mibus to Him. Find out more -- read the story >>

Philippines: Agta tribe: Donovan and Charla Epp with Thea, Koi and Zane are planning on returning to the Philippines in January. They have been on an extended medical furlough and are excited about returning to serve among the Agta people.
They are thankful that after a recent typhoon John, their co-worker in the tribe, didn't report that anyone in the area had been hurt or killed by the typhoon. Praise the Lord for his mercy on the Agta people and John.
There was damage to Donovan and Charla's house and solar panels! Many of the panels will need to be replaced and much work will need to be done to get the house liveable again.
Pray for Donovan and Charla and the family at this time of preparation and for John as he continues to show the love of Christ to the Agta people.

Senegal: Alessandro Parrillo from Italy, a former student at North Cotes, is currently working and studying at the "Centre d'Enseignement du Français." The course started at the beginning of September. The college is situated in a beautiful town in the south east of France, close to the Alps, not far from Italy. The students are all missionaries that will be working somewhere in West Africa upon finishing their course. Alessandro finds it a blessing to meet people from different mission agencies and hear how the Lord is working in different ways as others share their experiences. He finds French people are culturally very similar to Italians and friendly.
After one year of deputation, the Lord is moving him forward in the process of reaching Africa. Alessandro is so thankful to the Lord for allowing him the opportunity to work in the school so he can pay for his studies.
Alessandro's prayer is that the Lord will continue to give him the strength to work and to learn French.
He is more and more convinced that a missionary can't be successful without the prayers of fellow Christians. Pray for Alessandro as his desire is to serve the Lord in Senegal.

Indonesia: Samuel and Judith Schuster completed the Applied Linguistics Course at North Cotes in July this year and have returned to Germany. They praise God for the opportunity to meet many people and refresh relationships.
After many prayers, talks and thoughts Samuel and Judith have finally decided together with the leadership of their home church to serve with NTM in Indonesia.
A very special praise is that they are expecting a baby
Pray for a good pregnancy
Also pray that they can be a blessing and an encouragement to others and for wisdom in all preparations.

Papua New Guinea: Kelly and Beulah Sehorn with Holly, Davis, Devon and Drake are support missionaries serving at Hoskins in Papua New Guinea.
Kelly has helped with the project of erecting a pre-framed gym for the school and the Islands Region to use for meetings and recreational sports. The container with the gym arrived in May and stayed put for some months until technical help was drafted in to give advice on how to make the building stable in an area susceptible to earthquakes. They praise the Lord for safety in erecting this large structure and ask for continued prayer as it is a long way from completion and Kelly has been asked to take over the oversight of the remainder of the construction.
.Recently Beulah and Holly had to travel to the Highlands region for Holly to have dental treatment. The treatment took longer than anticipated and they ask for prayer that the insurance company would cover the costs of travel.
Also pray for continued healing for Kelly’s tendonitis
Right now in the country of Papua New Guinea there are 30 translations in progress and a total of 21,000 verses waiting to be checked this year, before being published and used.
Please pray as the field is short of Translation Consultants.

West Brazil: Robert and Martha Rutherdale with Faith, Peter, Ben and Josiah have been doing a lot of travelling. They have met many people and one of the most encouraging things has been when people have talked to them after the meeting and have remembered them in prayer. It was also a great encouragement to have several at the youth meetings ask questions, take information about mission trips, etc.
Robert and Martha pray that others will be challenged about serving Him with the gifts and talents He has given them. Recently they took the children to see an amazing natural landmark in Northern Ireland, the Giant’s Causeway. They just loved climbing over the rocks! This awesome causeway is such a good reminder of how great and wonderful God really is.
Josiah their baby turned two years old at the end of October.
November is also a very full month for them, with a possible trip to England for paperwork to be fitted in around the meetings.
There are approximately 350,000 indigenous people in Brazil made up of 258 indigenous groups who speak 180 different languages. Some sources indicate that Brazil contains the majority of un-contacted people on earth. Sixty percent live in the Amazon region. Please pray for those that are working in this area reaching out to tribal people and showing the love of God to them.
Please continue to pray for visas to enter Brazil, for learning Portuguese and for wisdom in keeping a good balance between family, meetings, correspondence, study and work at this very busy time. Also pray for financial stability as they seek to serve Him effectively through the aviation ministry.

Thailand: Norman and Bobby Murphy have been encouraged by the improvement in their reading and writing ability in Thai which has been their main focus. They will continue to work on reading and writing but are looking into other ways to push their spoken Thai to a higher level. One option for them might be to spend some time on a project at a university. The details still need to be confirmed but this would provide them with the opportunity to work closely with Thai people in government offices and rural settings giving them greater insight to language and culture as well.
A few weeks ago a missionary family on furlough learned that they did not have a vehicle. They immediately arranged for them to use their vehicle until they return to Thailand. It has been a real blessing. More than once they have got caught out in heavy rain as they were out on the little motorbike or just got very hot from riding in the sun. It was also 'interesting' doing their shopping on the bike and they were beginning to look very Thai with bags and shopping hanging off the side. Having the vehicle has made getting around so much easier and enabled them to do some longer journeys.
During mid-October they attended the annual field conference. The NTM missionaries and national workers from around Thailand got together for a week. It was a great time of Bible teaching, reports from the various works, workshops and plenty of time to relax and fellowship together. This year a few of the men took turns at taking the teaching sessions. They were blessed as each one led a study from the book of Ephesians. They were reminded that all that they need to live for the Lord and serve Him is found in Christ.
A few weeks ago a Lawa tribal village was hit by flash floods resulting in some damage to homes and rice storage houses. In addition to this many lost their rice crops as the waters swept through and destroyed their rice fields. Some aid was provided to meet their immediate needs and the government provided a mechanical digger to clear the mud and broken down trees from around the affected houses and to open up the many parts of the road that were blocked or washed away. Since the time of the floods some of the missionaries that live in Chiang Mai have been collecting items sent by other missionaries from around the country including, clothing, blankets and finance to purchase food and other necessities. Norman and Bobby were able to go with six others with two pickup trucks full of the things to be distributed among the people. These items will only help in a very limited way but they wanted to encourage and show their support for the people, both believers and unbelievers alike. As they got nearer to the village they could see evidence of the damage the heavy rain had caused to the roads. Negotiating the last 5 or 6 kilometres of the dirt road took them almost one hour. They were thankful it didn't rain while they were there since it would have impossible to get back out without four wheel drive.
An item for praise is that Norman and Bobby's visas have recently been granted.
Also pray that they will have a great time with their daughter Ruth who will visit them soon.
This time of year in Thailand the rice is ripening and harvesting has started. A few days ago they looked across rice fields, a beautiful scene but the heat of the day and the size of those fields reminded them, 'The fields are white already to harvest but the labourers are few'. Pray with them that they will be able to have an effective part in God's Harvest.

. You are the God who does wonders; You have declared Your strength among the peoples..
