Thank you so much for your prayers for this project. God has certainly answered them and Stephen and Moira are so grateful to God for the expert help and advice given by the team from the USA. They are also grateful to their Baynunk language helpers for their contribution, which made the project progress so quickly. Please pray that God would guide them as to where they should hold the first class and who to teach.
Stephen and Moira have now returned to their home in southern Senegal. After being away for three months, they wondered in what state they would find the house and vehicle. The vehicle was fine and started first time. The house was in a bit of a state after going through a very heavy rainy season. Sand had blocked the water drainage holes on the roof causing water to gather and then leak into the house on one side. This had caused extensive damage to the walls but, more seriously, it caused the moulding around the ceiling in three rooms on that side of the house to collapse. Thankfully, no one was injured, as what fell was very heavy and 30cms wide. (A number of people were using the house during their absence.) The owners had all the ceilings repaired during their first week. Lots of painting still needs to be done once the walls are completely dry.
Because of the generosity of so many, Stephen and Moira were able to buy three pieces of equipment while in the UK which are proving to be a massive help in their work here; a high quality voice recorder, a fast, reliable laptop and a memory card duplicator. These items along with all their baggage arrived safely after many miles of air and boat travel.
Stephen and Moira are enjoying being with their Baynunk friends again and getting back into Bible translation and lesson preparation. Moira is now revising the book of Romans and Stephen is preparing lessons for believers based on the Gospel of John. As the rainy season draws to a close, it is a very hot, humid time of the year. Please pray for strength and stamina for them, and please continue to pray that God would work in the hearts of the Baynunk people as they listen to His Word. Please pray that, as they continue to listen, they will understand and accept Biblical truth and have the discernment to distinguish it from what they have been previously taught.
